QuickBooks Desktop Pricing in 2026: What Each Edition Really Costs

Intuit’s pricing pages change often and rarely show the whole picture. This is the plain version of what QuickBooks Desktop costs in 2026, and where the money actually goes.

Prices below are Intuit’s US list prices at the time of writing and are meant as a guide. Reseller pricing, promotions and multi-year terms change the final number. Message us for a current quote.

First, what happened to Pro and Premier

Intuit stopped selling QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus and Mac Plus to new US customers at the end of September 2024. Existing subscribers can keep renewing, but anyone starting fresh is directed to Enterprise or to QuickBooks Online.

That single change is why Desktop pricing questions have become Enterprise pricing questions. If you see an offer for a “new” Pro or Premier subscription today, ask exactly how it is being provided.

QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise pricing

Enterprise is an annual subscription, priced by tier and number of users. Approximate starting prices for a single user:

Each extra simultaneous user adds to the price, with per-user cost falling as you add more. A 5-user Platinum licence is nowhere near five times the single-user price.

What is included, and what is extra

Included in every Enterprise subscription:

• The software and all version upgrades during the term
• Priority Circle support
• Automatic data backup and recovery
• Access to industry editions

Extra:

• Payroll on Silver (it is bundled from Gold up)
• Employee count fees on payroll tiers
• QuickBooks Payments transaction fees
• Cloud hosting if you want remote access

Monthly vs annual

Intuit sells Enterprise on annual terms, sometimes with a monthly payment option that costs more over the year. Paying annually is cheaper. Diamond is the exception and is monthly by design.

How to pay less

1. Count simultaneous users, not staff. Most businesses over-license.
2. Buy the tier you need, not the top one. Silver plus a separate payroll service can cost more than Gold; Platinum for a business with no inventory is wasted money.
3. Ask a reseller. Authorized resellers often have promotional pricing that Intuit’s own site does not show, and can bundle setup.
4. Time it with renewals. Upgrading mid-term is prorated; renewing at term end with a promotion is cheaper.

QuickBooks Online for comparison

Online plans run from roughly $38 a month (Simple Start) to $275 a month (Advanced). For one or two users without inventory needs, Online is cheaper. For five users with a warehouse, Enterprise Platinum usually wins on total cost once you add up Online Advanced plus the third-party inventory app you would need.
